There is clearly a blossoming relationship between Caitlin Clark and Vanessa Bryant with the latter gifting the Indiana Fever star with a pair of signature Kobe Bryant shoes.

Clark is currently enjoying her first season in the WNBA after an incredible year in the NCAA in which she and Angel Reese helped massively to change the public standing of women’s basketball.

That has carried on into the WNBA and that sort of popularity gets you admiration from a figure like Vanessa Bryant.

Clark’s admiration for Kobe

It was a pair of Kobe 6 PE trainers that Clark received and she debuted them during the All-Star practise on Friday, as she prepares to take part in her first WNBA All-Star game in which she will play on the same team as Reese.

“I’m a Kobe person, everybody knows that. Obviously to wear his shoes, what Vanessa and their family have done, and continue his legacy with his shoes and their whole foundation.

It is incredible. I feel lucky to not only represent Nike, but their entire family,” Clark said to the watching press.

Clark has been sporting a number of different Kobe trainers during her first season in the WNBA so the gift does not exactly come out of the blue, Vanessa will have known that they will be well received.

When the Fever won their first game of the season, Clark was quick to discuss her inspiration.

“I guess that’s just the mentality you have to have as a competitor.

It’s just, you want those moments, you embrace those moments when your team needs a big shot.

I was able to create a little separation and get the shot off.

Would have been nice to hit a few more of those tonight, but we got the job done when we needed to,” she said.
