Furious BBC Breakfast fans are unhappy with Naga Munchetty’s interviewing style, demanding that she and her co-host are replaced following Thursday’s episode, which some viewers compared to ‘kids TV’.

Some viewers claimed the programme was too ‘light hearted,’ rather than being ‘packed full of news’.

A number of people watching the morning show also complained that the presenter, 49, needs to ‘read the room’ when firing questions at guests.

During the most recent installment of the breakfast show, Naga and co-host Charlie Stayt, 62, chatted with Lauren Henry, Hannah Scott, Lola Anderson and Georgia Brayshaw – Great Britain’s rowers who won gold on Wednesday in the women’s quadruple sculls.

The hosts interviewed the team via video call, as they were still in Paris following their incredible success.

Talking to the gold medallists, Naga said: ‘What we love about the Olympics is we get to know you guys, and maybe we wouldn’t have recognised your faces before the Olympics and now we will.’

Bringing up Lola Anderson’s late father, who she previously talked about in her post-win interview, Naga continued: ‘And we love the backstories.

‘You know, we’re celebrating today, but everyone will have someone special that they’re remembering and for you, I imagine one of those people is your late father.’

Lola appeared to get slightly emotional, gushing that the support had been ‘really touching’,’ referencing how the games ‘bring people together from all walks of life’.

However, some BBC Breakfast viewers expressed the belief that the question was too ‘personal’.

Taking to X, fans of the programme gave their opinion on today’s installment, writing:

‘Naga really ‘pushing the boat’ out this morning with inane comments and personal questions. Such a lack of EQ! Naga, she may not have wanted to talk about her late dad in this moment, and no, no one was at fault for ‘leaving it late’! #bbcbreakfast.’

‘Naga needs to read the room… #bbcbreakfast.’

‘@BBCBreakfast first thing in the morning should be packed full of NEWS… But NO it’s a pathetic light hearted entertainment programme designed to boost the egos of Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty.

‘Either provide some NEWS or replace them with Bert & Ernie & entertainment kids!’

‘Ffs #bbcbreakfast are you on a bonus for every time you make a guest cry. Fair play to the rower for resisting.’

‘Naga – “not that I think rowing is boring” She most certainly does. #bbcbreakfast.’

However, not everyone felt this way and some viewers instead pointed out that Naga looked lovely on today’s show, complimenting her outfit:

‘Loving Naga’s leather skirt/black belt combo. She looks fab when she makes the effort #bbcbreakfast.’

‘She’s got a cracking figure I think.’

‘Naga Munchetty looking good #bbcbreakfast.’

The host looked dazzling in a bright green high-neck top, complete with a leather midi skirt and a large statement belt.

The complaints come after Naga was also forced to pause the show and issue an apology to Carol Kirkwood, who was presenting the weather, when the hosting duo accidentally ignored her.

She said: ‘Sorry, Carol. Good morning, thank you,’ with Charlie adding: ‘We were distracted by our guest.’

Naga continued: ‘Yeah, we were, we have got Craig Revel Horwood here, Carol, so you want to say hello?,’ however the meteorologist didn’t appear to hear them.

BBC Breakfast has undergone a presenter shake-up this week, with both Jon Kay and Sally Nugent missing from their regular slots.

The show is also currently being split between BBC One and BBC Two to make room for the extensive Olympics coverage.
