According to recent reports by Anthony Slater, The Athletics Golden State Warriors Insider, the Warriors are considering adding Miami Heat star player Jimmy Butler to their roster this summer if the Heat try to trade him.

“If the Heat shop Jimmy Butler, I would expect the Warriors to enter the conversation to at least some degree,” Slater said.

The Warriors’ performance declined after winning the championship in the 2021–22 season. In the 2022–23 season, Golden State was eliminated in the Round 2 series of the Playoffs, and in the current season, they placed even worse, being eliminated during the play-in tournament. After this defeat, the Warriors are planning to improve their roster for the next season. Adding Butler to the team is considered an excellent move for the Warriors. However, there is increasing concern about Butler’s age and performance, as he played fewer than 67 games per year in the 2018–19 season.

In addition to Slater’s remark, veteran NBA reporter Nick Friedell gave some insight into the topic. During a recent episode of 95.7 The Game’s “Willard and Dibs” show, Friedell mentioned that Butler’s name had been discussed during the conversation of the Warriors for the trades.

“I think it’s a fit on paper, but I’m not sure how he fits into that locker room as the alpha personality that he is, and I don’t know if, after all the wear and tear on his knees, the Warriors would want to give him that extension,” Friedell mentioned.

Butler and Cameron Brink met last Friday night following the Los Angeles Sparks vs. Dallas Wings game. Brink was overcome with emotion upon meeting the Heat star up close, and they hugged each other before striking a photo for the cameras.
