Trevor Lawrence is the newest member of the $55 million club. He joined Joe Burrow as the most valuable floor general in the NFL. With a cheque as huge as this, comes greater expectations. However, the quarterback is not letting the pressure get to him.

Realistically, he has had to bear the pressure to perform since entering the NFL. As the first overall pick of his draft class, Trevor Lawrence has already established himself to be the best quarterback amongst his class. Now, the Jacksonville Jaguars are trusting him to lead them into uncharted territory, the Super Bowl. They remain one of four teams to have never played in the big game.

When asked about the expectations that come with the new contract, Trevor Lawrence was confident about achieving what is expected of him.

I'm not going to add any pressure to myself just based on getting this contract...Whether this got done or not, Mr. (Shad) Khan, Trent (Baalke), Doug (Pederson), everyone, all the coaches expect me to play well, and like I said, to bring a championship here eventually...Now that it's done, it doesn't really change that, but like I said, maybe from the outside it will a bit, but not for me.

Lawrence understands the faith the organization has placed upon him and he aims to give them a good return on their investment.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are finding their footing and improving year-over-year

In his three seasons so far as a starter, Lawrence has amassed a record of 20-30. However, his first season should technically be overlooked. The reason is that Lawrence came into a Jaguars organization that was experimenting with Urban Meyer as the head coach. It ended up going south and Meyer was fired after just 13 games.

It was in 2022 that Trevor Lawrence was able to shine and show his true talent. He made the Pro Bowl but this season, while he managed to lead his team to an 8-3 start, in the last six games of the season, he ended up throwing 7 of his total 14 interceptions for the season, which cost the Jaguars their playoff berth.

These are not grave concerns, Lawrence will improve and he has proven himself to be the ideal quarterback a franchise desires. However, despite the Jags’ successful free agency, their divisional rivals, the Texans and the Titans have significantly improved as well. It will be a battle to win the division.
