Luffy in gear 5 with Kid and Law in the back in One Piece

SUMMARY

Awakened Devil Fruits in One Piece are rare and depend on a user’s skill and synergy with their Devil Fruit.
Every awakened Devil Fruit is strong in its own right, but Luffy’s currently stands as the most powerful.
Logia Devil Fruit users have not shown awakened abilities yet, setting it up to happen within the final saga.

While Devil Fruits are already rare by themselves in One Piecethose who can awaken them and use them to their full potential are even rarer, as it depends on how skilled and trained the user is on their Devil Fruit. In fact, among the three main classes of Devil Fruits (Paramecia, Zoan, and Logia), the Logia class has yet to reveal any awakened Devil Fruit users, which goes to show just how difficult the task is.

Among the awakened ones, there are some that are stronger than others. For example, Kid and Law were able to take down Big Mom thanks to their awakened abilities. Of course, the most impressive awakened Devil Fruit until now must be Luffy’s, which revealed the existence of the Sun God Nika and his ridiculous reality-bending powers.

One of the five Jailer Beasts in Impel Down under the command of Sadi, Minokoala is an unnamed Zoan-type Devil Fruit user taking on the form of a Koala and is one of the first awakened Devil Fruit users shown in the series. The user’s human form and human-beast form have never been revealed.

As an awakened Zoan user, Minokoala has immense durability, as shown when he was able to get up immediately after taking multiple beatings from opponents and getting knocked down several times. However, aside from its durability, it has yet to show any special powers.

Minozebra is an unnamed Zoan-type Devil Fruit user who takes on the appearance of a zebra and is one of the first awakened Devil Fruit users in the series. He is one of Sadi’s Jailer Beasts introduced in Impel Down Arc, one of the weirdest arcs in One Piece. Like those of the other Jailer Beasts, the user’s human and human-beast forms have never been revealed, showing only its full beast form.

Minorzebra’s exceptional durability and resilience as an awakened Zoan user can be demonstrated in his ability to quickly recover after being knocked out by Crocodile, a former warlord and one of Impel Down’s most powerful prisoners. Apart from endurance, it has yet to demonstrate any special abilities as an awakened Zoan.

Minorhinoceros’ Tanked an Attack by Jinbe

He is one of Sadi’s five Jailer Beasts in Impel Down. Like Minokoala, the user’s human and human-beast forms have never been revealed.

Minorhinoceros possesses incredible durability as an awakened Zoan user, as seen by his ability to get back up after being beaten by Jinbe, one of the warlords and one of the toughest pirates in the Impel Down arc. Apart from its endurance, it has yet to demonstrate any remarkable abilities as an awakened Zoan.

Minotaurus Remained Conscious After Heavy Damage

As an awakened Zoan user, Minorhinoceros boasts remarkable durability and resilience, as seen by his ability to stay conscious after being hit by multiple people, taking on a massive explosion, and receiving many powerful kicks, all at the same time. As an awakened Zoan, it has yet to display any notable abilities aside from endurance.

Gild Tesoro’s Devil Fruit Made For A Powerful Filler Villain

Tesoro using the Gol-Gol Fruit Screenshot from One Piece Film Gold Luffy vs Tesoro

Gild Tesoro is the main antagonist of the 2016 film One Piece Film: Gold and the user of the Gol-Gol Fruit. With the power of the Gol-Gol Fruit, Tesoro can mentally manipulate the shape and strength of any gold he touches, and when he activates his awakening, the range of control he has over his gold dramatically increases to span the entirety of the massive Gran Tesoro, and he can even sense the movements of anyone or anything coated in it to attack them from long distances.

With the Gol-Gol Fruit being a Paramecia and not a Logia, Tesoro is limited by however much gold he has access to, and with seawater being capable of destroying Tesoro’s gold constructs, there are enough weaknesses to keep Tesoro from being a top-tier fighter, even with an awakening. Even so, Tesoro was able to hold his own against post-Dressrosa arc Luffy, and while that wouldn’t be very strong in the grand scheme of things, it still makes Tesoro someone who shouldn’t be underestimated.

Eustass Kid Was Able to Pin Down Big Mom

Magnet-Magnet Fruit

One of the Worst Generation pirates, Eustass Kid is the captain of the Kid Pirates and a notorious pirate from South Blue. His group committed a large number of civilian killings as pirates, earning him a bigger bounty than Luffy during the Sabaody Archipelago Arc. He is a user of the Paramecia-class Magnet-Magnet Fruit.

Kid’s Devil Fruit awakening enables him to put magnetism on items and people other than his own body, as evidenced by the fact that he attracted and injured Big Mom’s highly tough body with all the surrounding metal. He hasn’t fully mastered his awakened abilities, however, and using them takes a toll on his stamina. It is perhaps for this reason that One Piece humiliated him in his fight with Shanks, showing that there are some forces even awakened Devil Fruit users can’t defeat.

Trafalgar D. Water Law Can Manipulate Anything in His ROOMs

Trafalgar D. Water Law, another Worst Generation pirate, is the captain of the Heart Pirates from North Blue. He is a user of the Paramecia-class Op-Op Fruit, widely known as the “Ultimate Devil Fruit” because of its capacity to grant immortality to another person in exchange for the user’s own life.

Law got the power to apply space-altering qualities to any item after awakening through the usage of special ROOMs, which do not require Law to be inside the working field to conduct techniques, unlike regular ROOMs. With it, he can perform internal shockwaves that result in internal hemorrhage, and it can even entirely silence a person, as he shows when he uses both techniques on Big Mom. All of this makes Law’s awakened Devil Fruit ability one of One Piece‘s most overpowered.

Donquixote Doflamingo’s Strings are Versatile & Deadly

One of the former Seven Warlords of the Seas and an ex-Celestial Dragon, Doflamingo is among One Piece’s most powerful villains as he managed to overthrow an entire kingdom and even threaten Celestial Dragons. He is the user of the versatile Paramecia-class String-String Fruit, which can produce string clones and even cut an entire meteorite.

Doflamingo can transform his surroundings, such as the earth and structures, into strings, which he may employ for powerful attacks and protection when he uses his awakening. He can even create an unbreakable and unstoppable enormous birdcage out of threads, which can destroy and lock a whole kingdom, and even an Admiral and thousands of strong people cannot destroy it, and can only slow it down for a moment at best.

Charlotte Katakuri Uses His Powers Innovatively

Mochi-Mochi Fruit

Katakuri using his mochi powers in the mirror realm in one piece

Charlotte Katakuri, the most powerful of the Sweet Commanders in Big Mom Pirates, uses the Paramecia-class Mochi Mochi Fruit. While it is officially a Paramecia Class, he can use his Advanced Observation Haki to alter his body to avoid any type of attack (just like a Logia Devil Fruit), including ones imbued with Armament Haki, making it a unique Devil Fruit.

Katakuri can turn inorganic stuff into mochi as an awakened Devil Fruit user, scattering the sticky material around to increase his extremely long range of attacks and ensnare his enemies. He can also make Mochi fists, transform walls into Mochi, and collapse it on opponents, and its speed can grow so high that its friction generates fire. If he ever returns along with Big Mom as One Piece Film: RED teased, then fans will likely get to see even more innovative uses of his abilities.

Kaku Has Managed to Keep Up with Zoro

Ox-Ox Fruit, Model: Giraffe

Kaku in episode 1104

Kaku is one of the former members of CP9 that the Straw Hats fought in the Water 7 and Impel Down arcs, and he is now currently a member of CP0. Kaku’s Zoan Devil Fruit lets him turn into a giraffe-human hybrid that gives him an incredible fighting range, which can even give powerful fighters like Zoro trouble. In his most recent appearance on Egghead Island, Kaku revealed that he has actually awakened his Devil Fruit power making him even stronger.

While Kaku’s awakened Devil Fruit abilities aren’t as impressive as some of the other users on this list, they do increase his strength, speed, and ability to recover, which makes him even more of a formidable power than he once was. They even let him go toe to toe with an incredibly powerful post-Wano Zoro, who is one of the best fighters in the series.

Douglas Bullet Is One Of Luffy’s Strongest Opponents, Even If He Isn’t Canon

Douglas Bullet is the non-canon apprentice of Gold Roger and the main villain of the 2019 film One Piece Stampede. Bullet ate the Clank-Clank Fruit, which allows him to combine mechanical objects into giant constructs he controls at will, and when using his awakening, the range at which Bullet can use his fruit drastically increases and lets him create even larger constructs.

Being a former member of the Roger Pirates, Douglas Bullet was set up to be one of the strongest opponents Luffy ever faced, and he more than lived up to that idea. Bullet could hold his own against Luffy and all of the Supernovas with just Haki and brute strength, and when he finally started using his Devil Fruit, Bullet was so powerful that it took an alliance of some of One Piece‘s strongest characters to bring him down. Bullet might not be canon, but he still stands as one of the strongest people Luffy has ever fought.

Rob Lucci Has Continued to Challenge Luffy

Lucci is the former leader of CP9 that Luffy fought in Water 7 and Enies Lobby in one of his most memorable fights. Lucci’s Zoan type Devil Fruit enables him to turn into a human leopard hybrid that can use hulking strength and powerful speed to overwhelm most opponents. His return to the story in Egghead Island showed that in the time since he last appeared in the story, Lucci has awakened this Devil Fruit ability.

Just like Kaku’s awakened Devil Fruit ability, Lucci’s awakened powers grants him greater speed, strength, and recoverability than he had before. This actually lets him briefly stand up to Luffy’s Gear Fifth form in a fight. However, ultimately Lucci’s awakened Devil Fruit powers still aren’t enough for him to actually withstand Gear Fifth’s incredibly strong abilities.

Monkey D. Luffy Can Bend Reality Itself

Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist, is a member of the Worst Generation and has been dubbed an Emperor of the Sea by the media after defeating Kaido. His Devil Fruit is the Mythical Zoan Human-Human Fruit, Model: Nika, which was once misidentified as the Paramecia-class Gum-Gum Fruit. It is the only confirmed awakened Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit.

When the fruit is awakened, it transforms Luffy into his strongest form yet (known as Gear Fifth), which has the capacity to modify the environment, including live creatures’ flesh, and turn it into rubber to deflect attacks. It can even catch lightning and form an island-sized fist. According to one of the five elders, there is no power more ridiculous than this one. Because the fruit was only recently awakened, it’s safe to presume that this isn’t the fruit’s entire potential and that more abilities will be revealed in the future.

Who Else Will Awaken Their Devil Fruit By One Piece’s Ending?

The biggest contenders for an awakening

With One Piece slowly making its way through its final saga, an important question to ask is which Devil Fruit users might gain awakenings next. One easy contender is Fleet Admiral Sakazuki, better known as Akainu; Akainu is sure to be a major player in the final saga, and his having an awakening would do a perfect job of selling him as a major threat. There’s also how One Piece hasn’t shown what an awakened Logia fruit is like, and with Akainu’s incredible prominence, Akainu is the perfect person to show off what an awakened Logia fruit can do.

Another person likely to get their awakening in the final saga is Blackbeard. Like Akainu, Blackbeard’s role in the story as one of the major villains perfectly justifies the idea of him having an awakening, and considering how he has two Devil Fruits, Blackbeard’s awakening could make him one of the strongest characters in One Piece and a perfect opponent for Gear 5 Luffy in terms of strength. Either of those characters having awakenings would add a lot to One Piece‘s final saga, and with any luck, the story will play out exactly as such.
