The Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight has been postponed until further notice due to the former heavyweight champion’s medical condition that involves gastrointestinal problems, specifically an ulcer.

Many fans, pundits, and boxers alike have weighed in on the concerns of the fight, initially, the age difference between Paul and Tyson raised a lot of questions, Tyson being 57 and would be 58 on the day of the fight, and Paul is only 27, so the age is a big issue, however, there is also a gastrointestinal situation that is not allowing Tyson to fight, for this, here are what the experts are saying about his condition.

Dr. Behara from Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Texas was interviewed by USA Today about the seriousness of the condition and how would this affect the fighter.

“An untreated ulcer over time can erode deeper into the stomach and sometimes create a serious condition in the entire wall and that’s called a perforation, So when that happens it can require an emergency surgery to fix it.”

The specialist elaborated “It’s hard to sometimes to convince them to take that time off in when they’re in the middle of a heavy training, but overall we usually want to play the conservative route of at least a few weeks depending on the severity (of the ulcer).”

“It’s a lot of strain on the body. l bet his training regimen is outrageous, so it’s a lot of stress for sure.” Concluded Behara.

Meanwhile, Christopher Cao who is a pundit in gastroenterology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai also elaborated on what is the condition that Mike Tyson is going through “Peptic ulcers frequently present with abdominal pain and abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, with regards to dizziness, it’s certainly possible, especially if somebody is dehydrated if they’ve been having episodes.”
