“I’ve always been partial to the Irish good-bye,” Michael Easton said in his post.

“That’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone. But I thought you all deserved better. So I just want to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital.

“I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here. I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage this past 10 years. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family. I won’t ever forget you,” he went on.

“And as I walk out of here for the last time, and with apologies to Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the earth.”

He then walked past the studio for the last time in silence.

Michael has played Dr. Hamilton Finn on General Hospital since 2016.

He did not give a reason for why he is leaving the soap.

Before GH, Michael was on Days of Our Lives from 1990 to 1992, where he played Tanner Scofield.

He was on the daytime soap Port Charles in 2000, until the show shut down, and then starred on One Life to Live until 2012.

Michael was originally on General Hospital in 2012, but left in 2013 due to a contract dispute.

He then reprised his role in 2016.

Michael’s co-star, Nancy Lee Grahn, who plays Alexis, commented on his post and said that she will miss working with him.

“The class, grace and elegance in which you just did that is why I will miss you every working day,” she wrote.

His final episode is due to air imminently, according to Soap Opera Digest.

Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family. I won’t ever forget you.

‘IN TEARS’

Michael’s followers were in tears after hearing his announcement.

“I am in tears. I will miss you so much. You are such a wonderful actor and an even better human being. Port Charles will not be the same without you,” one fan wrote.

“I’m in tears right now! Michael you have been part of life for the better or of a few decades. From all the various characters you’ve played I’ve enjoyed every single one. My favorite will always be John McBain,” wrote another.

“Man, General Hospital is making a big mistake letting you go,” added a third.

“I don’t know what is going on at GH but they are making a big mistake losing so many phenomenal actors!” said another.

“I hope this is temporary,” said another.

“This better be only for a few months,” an Instagram user said.

MOVING ON

Michael isn’t the first General Hospital actor to leave the show this year.

Nicholas Alexander Chavez, 24, announced on X, formerly Twitter, his departure in May.

He played Spencer Cassadine on the soap.

“I’m so appreciative of the opportunity that GH gave me, and I wouldn’t be as busy as I am professionally if it weren’t for the talented producers, writers, directors, and fellow actors,” Nicholas wrote.

Nicholas gave fans hope by telling them that he and the executive producer have discussed his future on the show.

“While there are no current plans for me to return, we are still talking very openly about future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles,” he said.

Nicholas was last seen on the show in January.
