The Kansas City Chiefs are taking some heat online following claims of the team spending an unbelievable sum on their Super Bowl championship rings.
The Chiefs won their second successive Super Bowl this February and recently unveiled the resulting jewelry.
It’s reported that they gave out 700 rings, with just about every employee getting one, while around $28 million was spent on the pieces.
While a great touch, fans are criticizing the AFC outfit for skimping out on renovating their facilities while also wanting fans to pay for their new stadium.
“But won’t pay for renovations,” a user commented.
“28 milli on rings but can’t pay for their own stadiums…make it make sense @Chiefs,” said another.
“And they want tax payers to pay for a stadium…” a third wrote.
“But won’t spend money on facilities. SMH,” another remarked.
“And yet can’t pay for renovations for their own stadium. The grief is real,” someone wrote.
Kansas City Chiefs Players Accused The Team Of Having One Of The Worst Facilities In The NFL
The Kansas City Chiefs represent the league’s quintessential model and have set the standard for excellence. However, they didn’t get great scores on their last NFLPA Report Card.
The team scored a D- for their locker room and a D+ for their training room, ranking them 28th and 24th among teams in said categories, respectively. Overall, they ranked 29th.
“In general, the results show that the facility feels outdated and players would like to see upgrades across the board. Only 56% of respondents believe that club owner Clark Hunt is willing to invest the money to upgrade the facility, ranking him 27th in this category,” the NFLPA noted.
Hunt is said to have promised renovations but has yet to deliver. Still, an unprecedented third-straight Super Bowl would probably quell the complaints.
