Miley Cyrus suffered an extremely awkward wardrobe malfunction on New Year’s Eve, which left her her accidentally topless on stage.

The hitmaker’s major wardrobe fail came as she co-hosted her New Year’s Eve Party special on NBC alongside Kim Kardashian ‘s new beau Pete Davidson.



Full of glitz, glamour and the most awkward wardrobe malfunction of the year, the NYE extravaganza was streamed live from Miami in Florida, America on Friday night.

Miley, 29, who rose to ultimate fame when portraying the role of Hannah Montana on Disney Channel, was performing her hit Party In The USA when things went horribly wrong.

Moments after the clock struck midnight and the whole of Florida welcomed 2022, Miley’s top came undone and she experienced the ultimate wardrobe malfunction – live on stage and streamed around the world – in front of millions of people.

Donning a silver top made from a chainmail material, Miley teamed the revealing top with a matching mini skirt that left little to the imagination.

Showing off her toned physique, the blonde bombshell danced and sung as she performed to masses of people, completely unaware of what was about to happen.

As she danced and performed her hit song, she realised that her top had fallen down when the straps came undone, and was forced to catch it with her hands in a quick reflex action.

After catching her top, she sashayed off stage instantly while her backing singers continued the song, before Miley emerged from backstage wearing a brand new show-stopping outfit.

Wearing the same mini skirt made from chainmail, Miley ditched her top and opted for an open-front red blazer – showing off her figure and unwavering confidence as she made her return.

As she stepped up to the mic, she referenced a lyric from the song she was singing – Party In the USA – and then joked: “Everybody’s DEFINITELY looking at me now!”

Exiting the spotlight once more, Miley headed backstage to get ready while Pete Davidson stepped in and made a joke about Miley’s “boob slip” on stage.

Fans were quick to take to social media to detail the moment it happened, with one saying: ” Miley Cyrus ’ top just fell off, and she’s singing through it. 2022 is gonna be alright, y’all.”

Another penned: “We’re not even 5 minutes into 2022 and Miley already lost her top.”

While a third said: “Miley’s top falling off on stage is iconic. Just iconic.”

And a fourth noted: “We are 5 minutes into the New Year and Miley Cyrus lost her top on live TV, professionally left the stage, and came back in just a blazer. Iconic.”

Returning in another look for another set of songs, Miley then concluded the show with a ‘thank you’ speech.

She thanked the in-person audience for attending and the viewers at home for tuning in, before making light of the wardrobe malfunction.

“Tonight’s show was all about being flexible,” she started, “Rolling with the punches and making the best out of even the worst circumstances. And that resilience shouldn’t end here.

“Let’s bring that into the new year with us. We’ve all learned how to expect the unexpected,” she joked.
