“It’ll Be Much Harder This Time” – Dillian Whyte Delivers Harsh Verdict On Fury-Usyk Rematch

Tyson Fury is currently facing a new challenge in his boxing career: rebounding from a defeat. The Morecambe heavyweight lost to Oleksandr Usyk in their undisputed title fight, enduring a brutal ninth round that led to a referee’s count and a subsequent loss on the scorecards. The rematch is scheduled for December 21.

Former heavyweight world title challenger Dillian Whyte, who returned to boxing in March after being cleared from a doping investigation involving a contaminated supplement, spoke to IFL TV about Fury’s chances in the rematch. While Whyte believes it’s possible for Fury to win, he questioned if Fury is still the same fighter.

“It’s heavyweight boxing, so anything is possible and you can’t write Fury off. But maybe these hard fights he’s had have taken a toll on him. He’s human, and he’s had a lot of hard fights, a lot of knockdowns, and maybe it’s taken a toll on him. Maybe he’s not even bothered or motivated anymore.

If he trains right, he’s big, so he stands a chance. But Usyk’s self-confidence will be through the roof. Before, he thought he could outbox him, but now he knows he can hurt him, so it’ll be a much more difficult task [for Fury] this time around.”

Fury’s recent fights include a demanding trilogy with Deontay Wilder, followed by more straightforward title defenses against Whyte and Derek Chisora. His bout before Usyk was against Francis Ngannou, where Fury was heavily knocked down but managed to scrape a split decision win.
