When Skip Bayless announced his departure from FS1, many were shocked. The analyst has been part of the network since 2016 and had seen great success.
Of course, when someone works at a place like that for so long, it’s expected that they will have some sort of farewell sendoff. Similar to what was seen with Shannon Sharpe when he left his position on “Undisputed.”
However, When Bayless filmed his last show on Aug. 2, there was no big spectacle. It ended like any other episode, leaving many to believe that Bayless was leaving on a sour note.
That wasn’t the cause, though, Bayless revealed on his latest episode on The Skip Bayless Show.
“After the show, it was brought to my attention that some on social media criticized FS1 for not giving me the same fond farewell sendoff that my former partner Shannon Sharpe was given,” he said. “That is not true. And that is not fair! I was offered exactly the same kind of farewell festivities that Shannon received, but I declined. I’m not very good at mush gushy and I am definitely not retiring. I chose to do the very best show that I could for my last show and then move on.”
Of course, without being there behind the scenes every day, this will likely be the best explanation anyone offers on the subject.
Skip Bayless Seemingly Plans To Continue Career In Sports Media
Just because Bayless finished a long career as co-host of “Undisputed,” the 72-year-old isn’t stepping away from the sports world.
In the same tweet announcing his departure from the show, he says, “I’m excited for what’s coming up. Stay tuned.”
Whether it’s finding a spot on a new show or digging deeper into The Skip Bayless Show, you can expect to keep hearing about Bayless in the sports world.
