As the crew’s second-strongest member after Luffy, Zoro is frequently involved in some of the most amazing clashes, and with each clash, he grows closer to his goal of dethroning Mihawk as the World’s Strongest Swordsman. One of the most intriguing mysteries surrounding Zoro’s character is his left eye, which he lost at some point during the time skip.

As Zoro is one of the most important character in One Piece, his left eye could be hiding many potential secrets and fans have developed many theories about it. One such theory states that Zoro has hidden a massive surge of energy in his left eye, and when the time comes, he will unleash it, thus bringing out the demonic form Asura.

What Happened to Zoro’s Left Eye?

When the time skip for One Piece occurred, Bartholomew Kuma sent Zoro to Kuraigana Island. He had to fight the humandrills and eventually submit to none other than Mihawk himself. Following the Marineford incident, Zoro sought guidance from Mihawk to improve his strength and better protect his commander.

In addition to learning how to use Haki, Zoro also became incredibly proficient in all of his sword styles. Unfortunately, Zoro eventually suffered damage to his left eye. Fans were taken aback to discover that Zoro had a large scar running over his left eye when he returned to the Sabaody Archipelago following the two-year time skip.

Although Zoro’s left eye has remained closed ever since, it is still unclear exactly what happened in that scenario. Since then, fans have developed multiple theories about his left eye and what would happen if he eventually opens it. While the scar indicates an injury, seeing the foreshadowing Eiichiro Oda has done in the past, it is plausible that there is a meaning behind his lost eye.

One Piece Theory Claims Zoro Opening His Left Eye Will Unleash Asura

According to one theory posted on ForMyAnime, Zoro closed or wounded his eye in order to train his other senses and skills, including hearing, smell, intuition, observation haki, and armament haki. This allowed him to strengthen his sense of touch and comprehension of his environment and foes, as well as improve his swordsmanship and might.

Additionally, he is able to exert more control over his inner demon or spirit, which takes the form of Asura, a three-headed, six-armed creature that he can call forth under specific circumstances. Zoro’s Asura represents the pinnacle of his swordplay abilities. Producing six more swords for him to employ in battle, enables him to raise his attack power by three times.

One Piece: Why There Is No Episode 1097 This Week

Why is there no new episode of One Piece this week? Fans might be wondering about what happened to episode 1097, which was supposed to air over the weekend. Here is a guide on why there’s no One Piece episode 1097 this week.

Why is One Piece Episode 1097 delayed?

On Friday, March 8, the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the One Piece anime announced that the series will be on break for the week. Check out the post below:

This means Episode 1097 will be airing on Sunday, March 17 in Japan. That would be Saturday, March 16 in the evening for those in the United States.

It’s common for the One Piece anime to take production breaks from time to time. Special holidays or broadcasts are also a possible reason for the anime to take a break. Usually, there would be a special recap episode to make up for it. However, this week seems to be a different case since there was an episode preview available for Episode 1097. So the last-minute announcement might’ve come as a surprise to the fans.

While there was no information on why the One Piece anime is on break this week, many fans believe the break is related to the passing of Dragon Ball creator, Akira Toriyama. Toriyama was a key figure in the anime and manga industry. He was also a great influence on many shōnen authors today. Toei Animation is the studio behind Dragon Ball and One Piece, so it’s expected that many of the staff will need time to grieve.
