Tiger Woods portrait from 30,000 pieces of wood
Aaron Norris combined 30,000 pieces of wood into a portrait of an American golfer in his latest work measuring 1.8 x 2.4 m.
Norris debuted a portrait of Woods, made from rectangular wooden blocks, on social media X and Instagram on August 21.
“I hope Tiger sees it,” he wrote when he announced it. Norris completed the piece in two months and five days, using oak, maple, walnut, and elm. He chose Woods as his subject, reading the green in his youth, recreating his vivid, camera-like eyes.
Norris’ efforts are now being praised by the public with beautiful words such as “excellent”, “wonderful” or “miraculous”.

On Instagram, @phelpsmeister jokingly asked: “So how much beer do you need to finish the project?”.
“A lot,” Norris replied.
In late September 2023, Norris began work on a portrait of Woods, but from 25,000 tees, in which the American golfer was in a green-reading position when he was young. The finished product, then measuring 1.8 x 1.8 m, took more than six weeks to complete.

Norris has previously painted several oil paintings of Woods, including two set in the Masters Major at Augusta National in Georgia, including the former world number one waiting to tee off on the 12th hole and the moment he set the -13 mark for the 2019 tournament. That result marked Woods’ 15th major win in the quartet of Masters (five times), PGA Championship (four times), US Open (three times) and The Open (three times).
In addition to Woods’ portrait, artist Norris also painted portraits of many famous people or world sports icons such as Arnold Palmer (golf), Muhammad Ali (boxing), Stephen Curry (basketball), Derek Jeter (baseball), Lionel Messi (soccer)…

In his bio, Norris says he specializes in oil paintings, focusing on landscapes for the first half of his career. However, in recent years, Norris has focused on portraits of sports figures, mostly legendary or the world’s most influential. All of Norris’s work is currently listed for $100.
