The Philadelphia 76ers’ shooting guard Buddy Hield recently gained attention from NBA analysts speculating about his next team. Despite rumors, the 31-year-old guard has agreed to join the Golden State Warriors, as reported by Shams Charania.

However, new reports suggest that two other teams, the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets, were interested in acquiring Hield before he decided to join the Warriors. This information comes from NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. He also mentioned that the Los Angeles Lakers were also eyeing to rope in the talented guard.

“The Detroit Pistons flirted with the idea of offering Hield a one-year deal, but they instead chose to preserve cap space to be a potential salary dump destination for teams, league sources told HoopsHype. The Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat also expressed interest in Hield, HoopsHype has learned. Finally, The Athletic reported the Los Angeles Lakers also expressed interest in the sharpshooter.” Scotto wrote this in his latest reports.

Buddy Hield Turned Down Lakers for Warriors

The Lakers were unlucky this year in acquiring some essential players for the roster. After firing Darvin Ham, they started by adding UConn Huskies head coach Dan Hurley as their new coach. However, Hurley rejected their offer. The same was done by the Warriors guard Klay Thompson and 76ers guard Buddy Hield; both rejected the Lakers’ offer. Thompson agreed to the Dallas Mavericks’ offer, while Hield reportedly agreed to the Heat’s offer.

The 31-year-old guard, who won the John R. Wooden Award, the Naismith Award, Sporting News Player of the Year, and the Oscar Robertson Trophy in 2016, was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in a three-team deal that included the San Antonio Spurs in February 2024. Although he averaged 12.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in the 2022–2023 season, Hield did not significantly affect the team’s performance.

He agreed to a two-year, $21 million sign-and-trade deal with the Warriors and expressed his excitement about teaming up with Curry to add more veteran experience to the team in a recent interview.
