Harrison Mevis will have to find a new NFL home.
On Friday, Carolina Panthers kicker Harrison Mevis put the Panthers on the board with a 41-yard field goal in the fourth quarter against the New England Patriots.
By Sunday, he would be looking for a new home as the Carolina Panthers waived him from the roster.
Mevis, affectionately known as the “Thiccer Kicker,” is 6-foot, 240 pounds and came into the league as the all-time scoring leader at Missouri and all-time leader in field goals made.
After spending four seasons at Missouri, Mevis signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent in May.
Harrison Mevis could very well be brought back to Carolina if needed, but at least he was able to get a kick on tape for the other 31 NFL teams.
Harrison Mevis Became A Legend At Missouri
The Carolina Panthers made the tough decision to waive undrafted free agent Harrison Mevis, clearing up a roster spot to sign offensive lineman Tyler Smith, an undrafted free agent out of Western Carolina.
He is likely to get another shot since he was a star in college.
Harrison Mevis has the most 50-plus yard completed field goals in Missouri’s history.
In addition, he kicked a game-winning 61-yard field goal over Kansas State last year, which broke the SEC record for the longest field goal in the conference’s history.
Harrison Mevis left college as a First-Team All-American and First-Team All-SEC selection in 2021 and a Second-Team All-SEC selection in 2023.
During his four seasons at Missouri, Mevis made 89 of his 106 field goal attempts and converted on 148 of his 149 extra-point attempts, per Mutigers.com.
