Derek Chisora has made it clear that he has two bouts left before a well-earned retirement.

The fan-favourite fighting out of Finchley currently has 48 under his belt – 35 wins and 13 losses – and wants to make it to a Floyd Mayweather-esque 50 before calling it a day.

Despite some calls to retire now, Chisora put in a rejuvenated performance against Joe Joyce last month, dropping the former number one contender against the odds to win a unanimous decision after 10. It was spirited, bruising and thrilling – everything fans have come to expect from the 40-year-old in this final chapter of his campaign.

The Joyce win has changed the minds of some pundits who now believe the seasoned heavyweight deserves to have his final two as a fond farewell.

Post-fight, Chisora said that he would like to welcome his friend Tony Bellew out of retirement for a showdown in Manchester. He has now doubled down on that by sharing a poster for the fight stating December as the date.

Bellew fought twice at heavyweight against one-time Chisora foe David Haye. He was victorious on both occasions and moved into an undisputed cruiserweight fight against Oleksandr Usyk, another former Chisora opponent. The knockout loss was his own goodbye to fans and he has been sitting comfortably in the pundit’s chair ever since, even shouting encouragement to ‘Del Boy’ when covering his fights.

It’s massively unlikely Bellew hears the call and decides to make a comeback, especially for a pro fight and not a charitable exhibition further down the line. He did briefly consider a return last year, but that was down to a desire to fight for the WBC’s Bridgerweight World Title.

Chisora has also called out Zhilei Zhang and been open to a trilogy fight with Dillian Whyte, the latter being a much more likely option.
