Mike Perry vows to ‘break this kid down’ en route to a late-round TKO stoppage against Jake Paul in Florida
Outside of his UFC and BKFC stardom, ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry is ready to show the wider combat sports world what he’s all about.
The former MMA star turned Bare Knuckle icon returns to action on July 20 to face Jake ‘The Problem Child’ Paul in the boxing ring, and it’s safe to say that ‘Platinum’ is plotting a path to a major upset in Tampa, Florida.

Mike Perry shares prediction for how Jake Paul fight will play out
Speaking via ESPN, Mike Perry was asked what he needs to do against ‘The Problem Child’ in order to get his hand raised in Tampa, Florida, on July 20.
Interestingly, Perry revealed that even he doubts that he’ll be able to get Paul out of there early, explaining how his style is more geared towards slowly amping up the pressure and volume as the fight progresses.
“Maybe I make him miss and make him pay, if I knock him down or get him to go to a knee anywhere between- he said under three rounds, I said seven rounds because I need my pressure to build up.
“He’s supposedly a little bigger, got a little more weight so it’s going to have to build up on him. I’m the smaller guy so I got to hit him with the hard, fast shots and it has to build over time.”
Fresh off his meteoric rise to become the face of the BKFC promotion, ‘Platinum’ wants nothing more than to extend the fight into the later rounds so that he can get some key experience in the boxing ring, especially in front of so many spectators around the world.
“I want to enjoy my time in the ring and get my rounds in, somewhere in there I’ve got to be able to stop him… I feel like a Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis sometimes, I don’t always throw a lot of punches but the ones I do throw, some of them bad boys are going to land significantly and do the damage to break this kid down.”
Perry also noted that he “definitely can’t” let the fight get away from him and end up in the judges’ scorecards, less another hard-earned victory be controversially stolen away from him.
“Could you imagine if I go out there and I’m just blocking, touching them up [and then] boom, clean combos – and it’s like you can’t deny me even a decision.
“If Jake’s big head is tough enough to take these punches in these 10oz gloves for eight rounds, 24 minutes of action, if he can take it and I box him clean the whole time, they can’t take it away from me, but we know how fights go you know.”
Perry open to fighting Mike Tyson in November after boxing beatdown
Jake Paul is still scheduled to fight legendary boxing champion Mike Tyson later this year in November, and it’s safe to say that Mike Perry is looking forward to spoiling the party.
“The only thing that I want to ruin is Jake’s face – I don’t want to ruin anything for Mike, there’s still going to be an opportunity, there’s still lots of months ahead and anything can happen in that time.
“Absolutely [I’d fight Tyson next], of course. Of course I’m thinking about that. I would definitely do it because the comments are negative already anyways so what are they going to say – the internet is undefeated, that’s the one fight I don’t want to have, Mike Perry vs the internet.”
The former UFC fighter noted that “Fighting Mike Tyson, obviously that would be cool,” before stating that he’s solely focused on July 20, “I got to have tunnel vision, this is my opportunity to show the world and I’m here for it, let’s go!”
Should Perry earn that statement win over Paul in Tampa, Florida on July 20, there could also very well be the option to rematch ‘The Problem Child’ in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.
Earlier this week, Jake Paul’s manager Nakisa Bidarian appeared on The MMA Hour to tease that Paul would be open to rematching ‘Platinum’ in the cage, as opposed to the boxing ring.
“I think if the fight makes sense, that’s absolutely something that Jake would like to do… Let’s see how it does, how it performs if there is an appetite for that, Jake has said to me 100 percent he would be down to do MMA with Mike Perry.”
Mike Perry vs Jake Paul goes down live on Saturday, July 20 via DAZN PPV.
