Fight Night Shocker: Experts Fear the Worst for Mike Tyson in Upcoming Jake Paul Battle!

The original fight scheduled between boxing great Mike Tyson and former Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul was rescheduled after the former suffered from an ulcer flare-up

Mike Tyson has been warned that his boxing bout with Jake Paul could end in catastrophe for the former world champion.

The upcoming battle between 58-year-old Tyson and 27-year-old Paul has been stoked in controversy since its proposal. The original fight between the pair was postponed from May to November after former heavyweight champion Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles.

Tyson will now return to the ring in November, but the forecasts for Tyson have been bleak in the lead-up with myriad big names in the boxing world fearing the worst for the boxing icon.

And fitness expert Dave Hancock, who has previously worked with Chelsea, Leeds and the England national team, has warned that from a medical point of view, the fight could be especially dangerous.

“Looking from the outside, Mike Tyson’s comeback is purely money-driven.,” he said speaking to OLBG. “If someone’s gonna offer you X to do Y, you can make a decision whether to do that or not at any age – so therefore your incentive is cash.

“Therefore you will be prepared to put your body on the line in those circumstances in that sport, because you know the reward is the cash.

“But physically, as a medical person, I think it could be catastrophic. Especially at that age, because reflexes are reduced, his reaction time’s reduced, he’s not as fit as he used to be.”

Hancock added: “There might be cardiothoracic issues, pulmonary issues, all sorts of issues that you’ve inherited as you’ve got older, lifestyle issues, you’re not living the same as what you were doing when you were training.

“But at the end of the day, money talks, going back to the same scenarios about footballers going on end of season trips and pre-season trips, it’s because there are huge amounts of money involved. It’s no different for an individual athlete that could get a payday for a one-off bout with a YouTuber.”

Hancock is not the only one to ring warning bells for Tyson. Anthony Taylor, who has established himself as a leading YouTube fighter, and is a former sparring partner of Paul, believes the younger man will produce a landmark performance.

When Tyson pulled out of the fight, Paul recruited bare-knuckle boxing champion Mike Perry as his replacement – and duly knocked him out in six rounds.

Afterwards, Paul sent a message to Tyson, imploring him to sign the contract for November. He added: “Mike, I love you but this is my sport, you’re a legend, you’re one of the two most famous boxers ever to live, you and Muhammad Ali. It’s an honour to get in the ring with you. I’m so, so honoured; you’re a legend, but I’m going to take your throne, brother.”
