After back-to-back disappointments, Luka Doncic led the Dallas Mavericks to their first victory in Game 4 of the NBA Finals series against the Boston Celtics with his record-breaking performance. For his impact in the game, the Slovenian got praised in every form, but one of them in particular caught the attention of Pelican’s Larry Nance Jr.

To honor Doncic, SportsCenter came up with an edit where the Mavs guard can be seen as Hanzo, a character from the video game, Overwatch. That reminded Nance of one of his old edits, and he couldn’t hold back from sharing it with the social media fans. Retweeting the post on X (FKA Twitter), the 31-year-old wrote, “This is worse than my Patrick Star edit.” Soon the community started pouring in amusing comments on his tweet.

A fan stated, “The Patrick edit is legendary. I need a part 2 when that Cavs return happens somewhere down the line.”

While another had a humorous reaction to it, “No it’s not, he plays the game..we haven’t seen you on spongebob at all.”

“Nothing is worse than your Patrick Star edit”, someone tried to make Nance believe that.

Whereas one fan unable to figure out the logic behind the ‘Savage Patrick’ edit. He added, “I still don’t understand why they did that.”

One of the comments read, “Nah nothing beats the Patrick Star era. That was peak.”

While Luka Doncic’s hybrid edit seems reasonable as he follows and plays the game, there has been no connection between Nance and his edit.

What Was Larry Nance Jr.’s Patrick Star Edit?

Larry Nance became a laughing stock when Bleacher Report created an edit of him in 2018 which came out of the blue. During his time with the Cavaliers, the big man came from the corner and slam-dunked over Nuggets‘ Mason Plumlee. The media house gave him a tribute by turning him into a character from the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants.

The clip went viral and Nance became popularly known as “Savage Patrick”. Despite SportsCenter’s attempt at creating Doncic’s edit, Nance feels his edit was better.

Luka Doncic certainly needs to dress up as Hanzo on Monday for the Mavs to defeat the Eastern team. Celtics are one game away from being declared the most accomplished franchise in the league.
