With the NBA season heading to a close, there have been rising concerns about Klay Thompson’s future in the Bay Area. Reportedly not getting the contract extension he desires Klay is likely to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. And possibly as a negotiation tactic, Klay shocked everyone by unfollowing the Warriors on social media. But his running mate Draymond Green didn’t seem too worried about the move and instead tried to find comfort in a nostalgic Stephen Curry moment from two years ago.

Warriors fans were in disbelief after Klay unfollowed the team that he has been a part of his entire career. Moreover, he has also removed a lot of team related posts and pictures of himself in the Warriors uniform. Meanwhile, Klay continues to follow the Santa Cruz Warriors on IG, the franchise’s G League team. However, unbothered by Klay’s actions, Draymond shared the highlights of Stephen Curry’s epic Game 4 performance from the 2022 NBA Finals on his IG story, captioned, “WOW.”

Yes, the same game Steph dropped a series high 43 points along with ten rebounds and led the Warriors to a much-needed victory. Coming into that game down 1-2, Steph’s heroic performance helped the Warriors level the series, that too in Boston’s arena. And it built such a momentum for the team that they went on to win the next two games as well and became Champions. Maybe, watching his team struggle this season, Draymond wanted to relive the memories of the time he last lifted the title. With an aging roster and Klay likely to part ways this year, the Warriors dynasty might be coming to an end, and Green possibly wanted to savour the historic moments they created together.

What did Draymond Green say about Klay unfollowing the Warriors?

While Klay unfollowing his team and deleting his posts left the Warriors fans concerned, it did not ring any alarm bells for Draymond. Addressing the act on The Draymond Green Show, the Warriors forward found it more comical than concerning, “I had no idea that happened. I think it’s f**king hilarious.” Having been teammates and close friends for over a decade, Draymond knows the trolling nature of Klay and understands that he is the one who would do such a thing merely to have some fun.

Contrary to popular belief, Draymond claimed that what Klay did didn’t hurt his feelings although some fans would be hoping for it, “It ain’t that. Ain’t never gonna be that.” But that does not change the fact that there is a strong chance that Klay might already have played his last game in the Warriors uniform. And it wasn’t a performance he would want to remember or take with him. Facing elimination in the play-in tournament, Klay shot an abysmal 0 of ten from the field in his final game of this season and went scoreless.

Although fans will always remember him for the four titles he won and the iconic moments he produced in the last eleven years, Klay would have hoped for a better ending to his Warriors journey, if this really is the end. Do you agree?
