Being an exceptionally talented player himself, LeBron James recognizes another talent when sees one. As the LA Lakers welcomed their No. 17 pick Dalton Knecht, the 39-year-old’s “I told you so” played at the back of the basketball fans’ minds. They quickly dug deep into social media archives and found the old video of LBJ where he showered the Tennessee combo guard-forward with praise.

Even with his extremely occupied schedule, LeBron somehow manages to keep track of the NBA, WNBA, college basketball and whatnot. He doesn’t stick to just observing them but also acknowledges the skills of the players. A video roughly two months ago captured one of those moments when the 20-time All-Star spoke about Knecht.

People might not have given it much value back then, but it was in their subconscious mind. “We watched that Purdue-Tennessee game because of Zach Edey and (Dalton) Knecht,” the 39-year-old stated in the clip, impressed with Knecht’s 37-point and Edey’s 40-point performances.

The video is circulating all over X (FKA Twitter) now that Knecht has officially become LeBron’s teammate on the Lakers. Though this depends on the franchise’s big man whether he would like to stay and extend his journey with his current team.

LeBron would certainly be happy with Los Angeles’ decision, but he is happier for his eldest son, Bronny James. The 19-year-old would also be a part of the draft in the second round. To show his pride, the Lakers’ superstar shared a heartwarming message with his child.

LeBron James Shares Emotional Message Ahead of Bronny’s Draft

Bronny James’ draft has been a focal point of this year’s event. Going into Wednesday night’s draft, much speculation swirled around LeBron’s older offspring. Hours before the draft, LeBron James shared an Instagram post, pouring out his emotions in the caption.

“Not a feeling in the (expletive) world better than being around raising my boys to MEN! Pops over here getting emotional as hell just thinking about yall journey so far!” LeBron wrote. “Thank you both for allowing me to be your DAD and be apart of your compass through life’s trials and tribulations!”

Bronny James has been linked to the Lakers multiple times and could end up there. Playing with his USC guard son on the same team would be LeBron’s perfect dream, and with a new contract on the way, fans can expect the father-son duo in action in the same colors soon.
