LaMelo Ball Gets Caught Riding Go-Kart on Roof

Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball continues to make headlines, this time with a double dose of excitement. Fresh off purchasing Cam

Newton’s Uptown condo, Ball found himself in the social media spotlight for an entirely different reason – a rooftop go-kart adventure.

He paid $2.47 million for a 3,300-square-foot apartment in the prestigious Trust building in Uptown. However, it’s not only the size, the flat, or the cost that make this a compelling buy—it’s also the prior owner.

Ball’s MB1 Enterprise signed the deal with Agape Property Management Group LLC, led by Cecil Newton, according to property records from Mecklenburg County.

Ball reportedly continued to lease the property from Newton since 2020 up until purchasing it last month. Newton bought the land in 2015 for $2.1 million, according to county records. Atlanta realtor Pierre Reeves told the Charlotte Business Journal that he rented the property with a “handshake agreement” to purchase it from Newton later.

Ball reportedly bought another apartment in the building in August for $2.2. Not only that, but Michael Jordan lived in the same building.

Injury Is Robbing LaMelo Ball of His Chance to Shine

Ball has not participated in a game for the Hornets since the 27th of January, and they have been eliminated from playoff participation. With eight consecutive seasons without making the playoffs, Charlotte owns the NBA record for longest drought.

The 22-year-old agreed to a five-year max contract deal in July. Ball has only appeared in 58 games over the previous two seasons due to recurrent ankle. And he has had since entering the league.

Ball averaged a career-high 23.9 points per game this season when he was benched. He was named to the All-Star team the year after being named NBA Rookie of the Year in 2021.
