Tony Bellew finished his career with a record of (30-3-1).

The Liverpudlian’s last fight was against Oleksandr Usyk when similarly to Tyson Fury he failed to beat the Ukrainian to become the undisputed champion albeit at cruiserweight.

Prior to that fight “The Bomber” had shocked many by putting back-to-back wins over fellow Brit, David Haye, ultimately sending him to retirement.

But, neither Usyk or Haye are the most skilful fighter that Bellew has shared a ring with. According to the man himself it’s former world champion and Olympic gold medalist, James DeGale.

Speaking to DAZN Bellew explained: “Usyk was up there, but I’ve got to say my old mate, James DeGale”

“Me and ‘Chunky’ were close all the way through our careers and I’d sparred him when wIe were both amateurs and also when I needed tough southpaw sparring.

“He could do it all in the ring and he was as tough as anything too. He showed that during his own career as look what he achieved. A proper quality fighter.”
