The NBA is now officially on notice by the Denver Nuggets, who just made a sensational sign-trade deal to
acquire pointguard Russell Westbrook from Los Angeles Clippers. Last Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski had already released some details of the deal but it wasn’t final yet. The Athletic’s Shams Charania released the official news on Friday and we got a jiucy deal for Russell Westbrook. The former MVP is playing next season alongside Nikola Djokic and Jamal Murray, he will be a Denver Nugget for the next two years. ‘Brody’ had spent his two most recent seasons in Los Angeles playing for the Lakers and the Clippers. After the Utah Jazz waived Westbrook, the Clippers completed the trade qith Denver.

How much is Russell Westbrook getting paid?
According to Shams, the Denver Nuggets agreed to a two-year deal for $6.8 million and Russell has a playr option after that for one more year. Westbrook has been one of the most prolific NBA players of the last 20 years, he is the triple-double leader in NBA history and this one marks the fifth trade of his career. Despite the new home, we also have to point out that Russell Westbrook’s stats are nowhere near as prolific as they were when he won the MVP Award. The talent is still very much there, as well as the athleticism. But Westbrook has not been as successful in Los Angeles as he was in previous teams he represented.
With the Clippers, he averaged a career-low 11.1 points and 4.5 assists in 68 played games. As a former MVP, Westbrook also set a record with the player who received this distinction with the highest number of trades in NBA history. Hopefully, this change in scenery and playing alongside two great players can help Russell recover his old self.
