After the Atlanta Hawks secured Zaccharie Risacher as the first overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, speculation arose about the future of star player Trae Young with the team. There are whispers that the Hawks might be considering trading Young, who has attracted attention from multiple teams, including the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Nevertheless, according to a recent update from ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the Spurs and Lakers haven’t shown significant interest in acquiring Young at this offseason stage. Young still has a $48.97 million player option for the 2026–27 season with the Hawks.

The Lakers, in particular, would need Young to fit into their established ecosystem. The exact asking price for Young remains unknown, but Lowe suggested that the Lakers’ interest could increase if the Hawks would lower their demands.

That could change if the price drops to L.A.’s liking. But the market for Young is as chilly as it has ever been,” Lowe wrote.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs hold control over the Hawks’ first-round picks through 2027, giving them substantial leverage in any potential trade discussions. However, the Spurs appear to be content with maintaining Atlanta’s debt rather than moving for Young now.
