Report: Mason Plumlee, free-agent big man, headed to Phoenix Suns

Veteran free-agent big man Mason Plumlee is headed to the Phoenix Suns.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported late Sunday Plumlee has agreed to a one-year deal with Phoenix.

Plumlee, 6-10, 250 pounds, entered the league in 2013 and has been with six teams during his time in the NBA, most recently with the Los Angeles Clippers last year, where he averaged 5.3 points and 5. 1 rebounds a game.

The move further shows how Phoenix is determined to beef up its front. Plumlee most likely will back up starting center Jusuf Nurkic, after last year’s backup Drew Eubanks declined his contract option to become a free agent.

Eric Gordon and Josh Okogie of Phoenix also declined options and opted to become free agents.

Gordon was expected to sign with the 76ers, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Sunday.
