After the LA Lakers’ season ended, the biggest question on every basketball fan’s mind was about the future of LeBron James. Speculations about him entering the free agency circulated with a season remaining in his contract. The franchise reportedly offered him a massive contract to avoid parting ways with their star forward.

According to reports, if LeBron agrees to extend his contract with the Lakers, he would receive a whopping $160 million max contract for three years. This certainly shows how badly the franchise wants LeBron on their side.

For the following season, the 39-year-old has a $51.4 million player option, which he might decline. He could end up re-signing with the Lakers or entering the free agency market. The 20-time All-Star would assumably play for a maximum of three seasons, so the offers seem fair.

Despite being well past his prime, LeBron carried the team to the playoffs this season with his remarkable offensive abilities. Playing for 71 games, the 4-time champion averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds in the regular season. But even after trying hard in the playoffs, Bron and the Lakers couldn’t defeat the Nuggets in the first round.

This season witnessed LeBron’s determination to add one more championship title to his name before hanging up his boots, and so did the Lakers. The team would be proceeding with a new strategy, so they hired an inexperienced head coach, JJ Redick. The move has its pros and cons; it got mixed reactions, but what came up during the hiring process was LeBron’s involvement in it.

LeBron James Had No Involvement in JJ Redick’s Hiring

LeBron James and JJ Redick have recently joined forces to run their podcast “Mind The Game.” When the former Duke was announced to be the coach, many turned their eyes toward LeBron, assuming that it was him who influenced the decision because of his connection with Redick. However, the Lakers GM Rob Pelinka clarified LBJ’s role.

Pelinka stated, “LeBron was very supportive of us and our process, but chose not to be involved, and we respected that.” On the flip side, he mentioned it was the team’s ace Anthony Davis who had a major contribution to the decision-making process.

The Lakers have opened up about their expectations of the new HC, who seems passionate about the task and looking forward to it. In a time like that, if LeBron and his son Bronny join the team, then it would be a great show for the fans.
