After being picked by the Toronto Raptors in the 2016 NBA Draft, Pascal Siakam made a name for himself by being one of the shining lights of the Canadian franchise. His 7-year stay with the Raptors earned him the NBA championship in 2019 and two-time All-Star selections. But last year, things turned sour when Siakam was pushed towards a trade he wasn’t willing for.

According to Sam Amick of the Athletic, Siakam was attracting interest from the Kings, but the Cameroonian forward declined. “The way it was framed to me — in an attempt to drive down what it would take to get him — some gossipy-type feedback on his game had gotten back to him,” the reporter said.

Siakam ultimately went to the Pacers in exchange for Bruce Brown, Kira Lewis Jr., Jordan Nwora, and 3 first-round picks.

Now, with the Pacers, Siakam found his rhythm again. In the recently concluded season, he averaged 21.7 points per game from 53.6% shooting. He carried his form to the playoffs by averaging 21.6 ppg while shooting 54.1% from the field.

Pascal Siakam’s Contract Situation With the Pacers

Following the Pacers ECF loss to the Celtics, the immediate question was about Siakam’s future with the franchise. But now things are looking much more promising as the Pacers are reportedly in the process of a new deal with Siakam.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Pascal Siakam and the Pacers have agreed to a 4-year, $189.5 million deal.

This effectively puts questions about his future beyond doubt. Siakam previously talked about his free agency scenario and expressed his optimism about extending his stay in Indiana.

The Pacers front office is looking to keep the young core intact, including Tyrese Haliburton, Andrew Nembhard, and Isaiah Jackson. Siakam’s title-winning experience is much needed to guide the junior pros, and the franchise almost achieved that this season. With a deep playoff run, the Pacers surprised many, and things could only get better for the Indy side with Siakam’s retention.
