Michael Winger’s dream of putting together a group of remarkable players came to fruition in 2019 after the Clippers signed Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. After 5 years down the line and only one Western Conference Finals later, the pair will see them from the other side of the court from the next season. But Kawhi Leonard doesn’t have any ill feelings about it.

When asked about his reaction to Paul George’s exit from the Clips to join the Sixers, Leonard kept mum. After much deliberation, the 2-time NBA champion broke the silence and said, “I’m not talking about that. I’m here to talk about USA Basketball … I don’t have a problem with [Paul George] leaving.”

Leonard’s comment proved that he is zoned in for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics. The forward’s injury troubles have stopped him from playing a full season for almost half of a decade. Last season, it was more of the same, as Leonard found himself sidelined in the playoffs after making only 2 appearances in the post-season.

Leonard’s injury concern almost had him pushed out from the USA roster, but his recovery was completed just in time for the tournament. And now, with the injury behind him, Leonard is eager to prove the doubters wrong.

Kawhi Leonard Aiming to Prove Doubters Wrong

Leonard’s recent luck with injuries raised serious questions about his long-term future. But The Klaw is unfazed by it.

“I got to keep doing what I’m doing, and I might be the most known at the time right now, like injury or whatever, but people have, players have worse luck than I have. So just to being able to keep going and keep going is going to motivate the next guy that’s watching me. So I’m going to keep going until I can’t,” Leonard told ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk.

Despite his injury issues, Kawhi Leonard averaged 23.7 points per game last season. His 52.5% FG, 6.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals prove that Leonard is still one of the best two-way players in the league. With the likes of LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant by his side, team USA will take some stopping.
