Charles Barkley shocked the NBA world with his latest announcement of retirement next year. After 20 years of a career in TV, the analyst made the hard decision to draw curtains on his career. While many stood up to applaud Charles Barkley for his contribution to NBA television, Jason Whitlock went deeper to find the reason for his decision.
Barkley’s fellow professional, Jason Whitlock, recently took to social media to share his reaction to the retirement news. “I believe Barkley is stepping away because he’s come to grips with what corporate TV is. It’s dishonest and he no longer wants to do it. Good for him,” wrote Whitlock on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The candid expose of the money driven corporate tv asks the question if it really was the reason for Barkley’s decision. The NBA is finalizing its move to ABC from TNT after the expiration of the current deal. With that, it will close the book on the award-winning show, “Inside The NBA” of which Barkley is a part of. The Round Mound of Rebound made it clear during his announcement that he would not work for anyone other than TNT.
Charles Barkley Talks About How His Wife Coped With His Career
Recently, during a recent interview with Renee Paquette on “The Colin Cowherd Podcast”, Barkley opened up about how his wife dealt with his career.
“Well, No. 1 I’m gone a lot. That always helps. I think the main reason is she accepts my flaws and all. She doesn’t judge me, accepts me how I am, she’s a great mother,” said Barkley.
Due to his life both as a player and an analyst, Barkley spent little time at home. Having an understanding wife certainly smoothened his professional demands. Chuck married Maureen Blumhardt in 1989 and, since then, has been going strong. With life ahead of staying at home, hopefully Mrs. Barkley won’t mind much of the former Suns forward’s hot takes about life.
