Maybe we are on our way to a 3-point shooting showdown between Golden State Warriors sniper Stephen Curry and Indiana Fever super rookie Caitlin Clark. In the last NBA All-Star Weekend, Curry defeated New York Liberty shooter Sabrina Ionescu. Should Clark be the next Curry challenger?

Clark has a great case. For one, she is now leading the WNBA in the 2024 season in threes made with 54. She surpassed Minnesota Lynx star Kayla McBride for most 3-pointers so far this season when she went 3/7 from deep in an 89-77 road loss at the hands of the Seattle Storm Thursday night. Those treys gave her a total of 54 3-pointers overall to just 53 by McBride. McBride and the Lynx also played on Thursday, but she only drilled one of her six attempts from behind the arc in a 94-88 loss on the road to the Dallas Wings.

Overall in the Seattle game, Clark had 15 points on 4/9 shooting from the floor. She had seven assists but turned the ball over six times, as the Storm’s defense was all over her.

“When you’re playing off a ball screen a lot and you get blitzed you’re just going to have to give the ball up. That’s just kind of how it rolls,” Clark said after the loss, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Clark is shooting 35.5 percent from deep this season but she’s really taken it up notches of late, having made an average of 3.5 threes on a 46.7 percent success rate over her last four outings.
