Who is Greg Vaughan from Days of Our Lives?

James Gregory Vaughan Jr., known professionally as Greg Vaughan, is an American actor, model, and TV personality.

He was born on June 15, 1973, in Dallas, Texas.

Vaughan’s first foray into the modeling world came when he was getting a haircut.

At just 16 years old, he entered a Back to School modeling competition, and was selected as one of the few finalists.

Though he didn’t win, Vaughan continued to pursue modeling, and signed with a modeling agency before graduation.

After graduating from Mesquite High School, Vaughan pursued a modeling career in Milan, Italy, and Miami, Florida.

He modeled for several designers and brands, including Georgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Banana Republic, Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger.

By his mid-20s, Vaughan caught the acting bug, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue his Hollywood dreams.’

His first acting role was in a 1996 episode of Baywatch, followed by a pilot for an Aaron Spelling produced series, Malibu Shores, in 1997.

Soon after, he booked roles on Beverly Hills, 90210, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and The Love Boat: The Next Wave.

Vaughan had a breakout role in the second season of the hit series Charmed, where he played Dan Gordon in 18 episodes.

Vaughan is perhaps best known for his work in several soap operas, including playing Diego Guittierez in The Young and the Restless and Lucky Spencer in General Hospital.

In 2003, he was nominated for a Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Newcomer for his work on The Young and the Restless.

Since 2012, he’s portrayed Eric Brady on Days of Our Lives, and is currently the longest-tenured actor in that role.

In 2018, he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his work on Days of Our Lives.

From 2016 to 2017, and again in 2019, he also played Calvin in the Ava DuVernay and Oprah Winfrey produced drama series, Queen Sugar.

Beyond television series, Vaughan has also appeared in several movies, including made-for-television films.

He’s a regular on The Hallmark Channel, appearing in holiday romantic comedies like Love’s Christmas Journey in 2011, The Christmas Note in 2015, and a Very Country Christmas in 2017.

On December 16, 2021, he also appeared in the Peacock original movie, Days of Our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas.

Why was Greg Vaughan hospitalized?

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, Greg Vaughan shared a few family photos, posing alongside his three sons during a skiing and snowboarding trip.

All seemed well, with Vaughan and the boys enjoying the snow during their Spring Break winter getaway.

However, on Thursday, March 14, 2024, the actor posted two selfies – one of him in a hospital bed, and the other of him leaning over an oxygen tank.

“Life is like a box of chocolates, ‘you never know whatcha gonna get'” Vaughan wrote, alongside a crying laughing emoji.

“I’ve said more than a few times, I truly feel like I work & live in a Soap Opera! 🤪 this trip was nothing short of another great Vaughan adventure!” he added, next to a man facepalming emoji.

Vaughan revealed that he had been “experiencing shortness of breath climbing a few flights of stairs, wheezy, some congestion after some cold snowy conditions, and a headache developing.”

Despite staying hydrated, and even drinking Pedialyte and taking NyQuill to prep for his Breckenridge adventure with his boys, Vaughan shared that his condition worsened.

“It was a night of tossing, turning, no sleep, coughing, dry heaving & my head felt like it was in a walnut cracker,” Vaughan shared.

After feeling sick for two days, the actor finally went to a nearby urgent care facility, where he learned that he was experiencing severe altitude sickness.

“My Blood Oxygen was at 54% & my lungs were full of fluids!” the actor revealed.

“Blood oxygen, also known as oxygen saturation, represents the percentage of hemoglobin in your red blood cells that is carrying oxygen. Most people have an oxygen level of 95-100%….” he added.

After four hours in the emergency room, “a couple of bags of IV & oxygen tank strapped to [his] face,” Vaughan was able to go home.

He urged his followers that “no matter your age,” or how often they’ve skied or snowboarded, the “Colorado Rockies [are] no joke!”

Vaughan finished off his caption with the hashtags #RecoveryInProgress and #MyAdventures, alongside a praying hands, rock on, and fist bump emojis.

Is Greg Vaughan married?

Greg Vaughan has had several high-profile relationships over the years, including a previous marriage and a called-off engagement.

On June 4, 2006, Vaughan married Dutch model Touriya Haoud.

Haoud was born on October 1, 1977, in Rhenen, Utrecht, Netherlands.

According to her IMDb, the Macedonian-Moroccan model speaks six languages, including Dutch, English, Spanish, Arabic, German, and Yugoslavian.

The budding actress also appeared in the 2006 film Five Fingers alongside Laurence Fishburne and Ryan Phillippe.

Together, Vaughan and Haoud welcomed three children together.

Their first son, Jathan James Vaughan, was born on May 4, 2007.

Their second son, Cavan Thomas Vaughan, was born on January 19, 2010.

Their third child, a son named Landan Reid Vaughan, was born on March 6, 2012.

The family of five split their time between Los Angeles, California, and Charlotte, North Carolina before announcing their separation on April 14, 2014.

“With dear love for each other and our family, as parents first and foremost, we kindly ask our space and privacy be respected at this difficult time,” Vaughan wrote on Instagram, as reported by People.

Following their divorce, Haoud reportedly moved back to the Netherlands, while Vaughan and his three sons remained in the US.

A few years later, Vaughan began dating actress Angie Harmon in 2017.

The duo even got engaged, announcing their happy news over the Christmas holiday in 2019.

Harmon was previously married to NFL player Jason Sehorn, with whom she shares three children: daughters Emery Hope, Avery Grace, and Finley Faith.

Both Vaughan and Harmon continued to post photos of themselves and their blended family – which they nicknamed the modern-day Brady Brunch – throughout 2020.

They quietly split sometime in early 2021, with some reports suggesting they called it quits by the spring of that year.

On August 25, 2021, Harmon even shared a cryptic tweet referring to her newly-single status.

“Can someone tell me if Roy Kent is single? At this point, that seems to be the most emotionally available man at this point…” she tweeted, referring to the famous Ted Lasso character.

It’s unclear when or why the couple separated, though both parties scrubbed all photos of each other from their respective social media accounts.

As of March 16, 2024, Vaughan appears to be single.

Following his hospitalization, however, the actor will likely want to take some time to focus on his health and his family.
