Dwight Howard puts beef aside to name Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant as greatest duo in NBA history

Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal

The NBA has seen many attacking duos in the history of its league but one that stands out for many is the Los Angeles Lakers power duo Shaquille O’Neal and the late Kobe Bryant. Notably, former NBA star Dwight Howard also believes the same as he shared his views on the Above the Rim podcast regarding the two Lakers legends.

Howard claimed on the podcast that the pairing of O’Neal and Bryant was one of the greatest NBA duos in the league’s history. Howard also asserted that the two Lakers stars made the “Big and Guard” duo popular in the NBA. In addition, O’Neal and Bryant’s duo won many championships together and individual accolades at the Lakers.

The best..the best NBA duo of all time, I'm going with Kobe and Shaq...I like Kobe and Shaq cause they brought a lot of flare to the big and guard duo. They made it popular, the 1-2 punch.

On the Above The Rim Podcast, Dwight Howard said

Interestingly, Howard speaking such highly of the Lakers duo speaks volumes of the impact the two stars had on the NBA back in that time.

It’s interesting to note that, O’Neal and Bryant have been very successful on the court together with the Los Angeles Lakers. In addition to winning three straight NBA titles in 2000, 2001, and 2002, O’Neal and Bryant also appeared in the NBA Finals in 2004. In each of their triumphs, O’Neal was named the NBA Finals MVP.

Dwight Howard once called Shaquille O’Neal a liar

Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard‘s NBA rivalry is well-known and has persisted for a considerable amount of time. O’Neal stated earlier this year that Howard had never asked for any advice from him, and Dwight was questioned about it when he appeared on The OGs Show. Notably, Howard denied these claims from O’Neal, labeling him as a liar.

That's a lie. There hasn't been a time where Shaq has just reached out like that.

Dwight Howard said on the OGs Podcast

In addition, Howard declared on air he would call O’Neal a liar after co-host Mike Miller refused to do so.

Howard claimed to have love and respect for O’Neal, but labeling him a liar is not going to sit well with him. Nor will the fact that Shaq was mockingly referred to by Howard as a “fake Superman” about the Orlando Magic retiring his jersey.
