With less than two weeks remaining until the 2024 NBA draft, there’s still uncertainty about who will be the first pick. However, French star Alex Sarr has been a prominent name in discussions about the No. 1 overall selection before the recent rise of Zaccharie Risacher.

Standing at 7-foot-1 with a large wingspan, Sarr is formidable on the court, particularly on defense. His rim protection abilities are a key attraction, as he can significantly alter opponents’ shots. Despite his size, Sarr is incredibly mobile, which adds to his defensive prowess.

Offensively, Sarr is expected to excel in spot-up situations and pick-and-pop plays. He has also demonstrated potential as a decent passer in half-court settings. He could become a consistent rotation player with further development, thanks to his elite defensive skills.

Sarr gained significant attention after joining the Perth Wildcats in the Australian Basketball League for the 2023-24 season. Before joining the Perth Wildcats, Sarr spent two seasons with Overtime Elite. During his time with the Wildcats, he played in over 30 games, averaging 9.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.5 blocks in just 18 minutes per game.

Alex Surr’s Potential Destinations

With the 2024 NBA Draft approaching, the speculation surrounding Alex Sarr’s destination is heating up. Initially touted as a favorite for the top pick, Sarr’s path to the draft has taken an interesting turn. The Atlanta Hawks, who secured the first overall pick, have been unable to schedule a workout with Sarr, as reported by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. Despite this, the possibility remains open for the Hawks to consider him.

The Hawks have been unable to bring Alex Sarr in for a workout to this point, but the door remains open for that to potentially happen,” Givony noted.

Nevertheless, according to Givony, it appears increasingly likely that the Washington Wizards will select Sarr with the No. 2 overall pick.

Meanwhile, other teams are also in the mix for Sarr’s talents. The Charlotte Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies, and Portland Trail Blazers have emerged as potential suitors for the skilled forward. Each team sees Sarr as a valuable addition to their roster, potentially altering their draft plans to secure his services.
