Rob Dillingham, a rookie joining the Timberwolves, has voiced his excitement about helping Minnesota win next season. The former Kentucky guard stated his desire to be the player who takes the Timberwolves to new heights after being selected on Wednesday.
In his lone season at Kentucky, 6-foot-1 guard Rob Dillingham averaged 15.2 points and shot 44.4% from three-point range. After being traded by the Spurs for a top-one protected 2030 choice and an unprotected 2031 first-round pick, he now plays for the Timberwolves.
Dillingham said: “[The Timberwolves] just need another scorer and another player that also playmakes and does everything, honestly. They just need one more piece, and I feel like they were honestly good this year, and they could have won it this year. So adding me is just a plus to the team, and whatever it does, it does.”
He added: “They were obviously deep in the playoffs last year, and I feel like that just shows you what they can be in the future. So I feel like I can be as much help as they need me to be, and whatever they need me to do, I feel like I can come in and do it for sure,”
Anthony Edwards became a standout for the Timberwolves last season, and the team showed tremendous improvement. Under Edwards’ direction, the club won seven games to eliminate the Denver Nuggets, the reigning champions, in the second round after sweeping the Phoenix Suns in the first round.
Rob Dillingham Shares Insights on Working with Anthony Edwards
Rob Dillingham is well-known for his ability to score goals and captivating demeanor. He is thrilled to team up with Anthony Edwards, another talented striker. Even though people are excited to witness this partnership, Dillingham is unsure what to anticipate.
Dillingham said, “I don’t even know what to expect, honestly. You know what Anthony Edwards brings. You know what to expect from him. But I’ll definitely be working too. So I don’t know what to expect yet, but you’ll see when the season comes. It’s gonna be solid for sure,”
He joins a Minnesota squad with defensive mainstays Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels and is among the best in the NBA regarding defensive rating. Mike Conley, an NBA veteran, will also serve as his mentor.
