During the Yankees’ 9-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox on ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball” this weekend, Juan Soto was mic’d up for an interview while playing left field.

Moments before a fly ball was hit his way, Soto was asked which slugger wow’d him the most with the sound the ball made coming off of his bat: Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton or Bryce Harper.

As he ran back to make the play, Soto came up with his response.

“Definitely Harper,” he said as he caught the ball. “I mean, it’s a different sound when you’re coming from the minor leagues to the big leagues.”

Harper was the first of the superstar sluggers that Soto has played with since being promoted to the majors in 2018 with the Nationals. That was Harper’s last year in Washington before he signed with the Phillies as a free agent in 2019.

Soto spent more than four seasons with the Nationals before he was traded to the Padres in 2022. He had his third All-Star season of his career with San Diego in 2023 and was traded to the Yankees in the offseason.

In New York, the 25-year-old continues to be teammates with esteemed sluggers like Judge and Stanton. Judge is hitting .299 with a 1.110 OPS, 26 home runs and 64 RBI. Stanton is coming back from a career-worst 2023 season and this year is slashing .238/.293/.484 with 17 homers and 40 RBI.
