After losing the first two games of their best-of-seven NBA Finals in Boston, the Mavericks were attempting to avoid falling 0–3 in the series. Game 3 of the NBA Finals saw Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks off to a great start on Wednesday. One of the well-known individuals in the audience supporting him and the squad was Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl winner.
Despite having troubleshooting in the previous two games of the NBA Finals vs. the Boston Celtics, Irving scored 20 points in the first half to help his side take a slim 51-50 lead into halftime. In his 22 minutes of action, the eight-time NBA All-Star was effective, going 8 of 14 from the floor and 4 of 5 from beyond the arc.
Here is the clip of the Kansas City Chiefs star cheering for the Mavs:
In addition to Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic performed well for Dallas throughout the first half. He finished with 17 points, three rebounds, and three helpers. Jayson Tatum led the pace for Boston with twenty points, followed by nine from Sam Hauser and eight from Al Horford.
Kyrie Irving Promises to Improve in the NBA Finals’ Final Games
Kyrie Irving, the great guard for the Dallas Mavericks, had a rough opening two games against the Boston Celtics in their NBA Finals series. He committed to improve in the remaining games to assist in positioning his squad for success.
In an interview with the media before Wednesday’s Game 3, the former NBA champion acknowledged that he realized more was required of him if the Mavericks remained competitive against the Celtics.
Kyrie said, “In order for us to accomplish our goal, we both have to be playing well and we both have to be doing the little things, doing whatever it takes to win. Easy conversation. But it started with me reaching out, just letting him know it’s my fault, taking accountability for not playing particularly well.”
Irving finished with an average of 14 points per game on 35.1% shooting in the first two games in Boston. In addition, he made none of his eight three-point tries.
