On the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr took the stage to show his support for Kamala Harris as the next U.S. president. Kerr made a grand entrance, walking out to the iconic tune “Sirius,” the same song that introduced the Chicago Bulls during their 1990s glory days when Kerr helped lead the team to three NBA championships.

While Kerr’s formal endorsement of Harris was significant, what really caught everyone’s attention was how he wrapped up his speech. Kerr ended with a playful nod to Warriors star Steph Curry, mimicking Curry’s famous “night night” celebration.

After the results are tallied that night, we can, in the words of the great Steph Curry, we can tell Donald Trump ‘night night,’” Kerr said.

Kerr’s connection with Harris goes beyond the convention. Just last month, Harris visited the USA men’s national basketball team during a practice in Las Vegas. Team USA’s coach expressed his admiration for Harris, saying during his DNC speech that he sees the leadership qualities in her necessary to guide the country forward.

Steve Kerr Reminisces About His Chicago Bulls Days at the DNC

The Democratic National Convention at the United Center in Chicago brought back a flood of memories for Steve Kerr. The United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls, was where Kerr experienced some of the greatest moments of his NBA career.

As a key player on the Bulls, Kerr won five NBA championships. When the Warriors head coach took the stage at the DNC, he couldn’t resist sharing some of those nostalgic moments.

As you guys know, a lot of good stuff has happened in the United Center, especially in the ’90s. You young people Google ‘Michael Jordan’ and you can read all about it,” Kerr said.

There was an amazing vibe in the building back in those days, and I feel that same winning spirit here tonight,” he added.

However, Kerr also took aim at his critics at the DNC’s opening night. It remains to be seen how this will backfire on him in the upcoming season.
