Stephen A. Smith on ‘First Take’ (Photo via @awfulannouncing/X)
Stephen A Smith is ready to dabble in psychedelics.
The ESPN personality has been urging athletes to “Stay off the weed!” for years, but he’s now willing to give it a try, though in gummy form.
Given that he grew up in New York City, Stephen A. probably smoked a bit of weed in his younger days, but he has been a staunch detractor of the drug and is known to harshly criticize sports stars who get into trouble over it.
Stances have changed on cannabis over the years, with American leagues hardly bothered by usage nowadays. And Smith is ready to take a page out of ‘First Take’ co-host Mad Dog Russo’s book and give the substance a try.
“I might try some gummies, though,” he said on the show this Thursday. “I’ve decided, Molly, that I’m gonna try some gummies.”
The topic stemmed from Smith’s recollection of a recent debate he had with Mad Dog about Derek Jeter’s status as an all-time Yankees great.
Check him out in the clip below:
A Stoned Stephen A Smith Could Be historically Wild
Stephen A Smith has been quite the character while sober, so he might be a real piece of work if he ever gets stoned. Then again, it might quiet him down – different strokes for different tokes.
Given that “Stay off the weed!” has been one of his more popular catchphrases, Smith giving marijuana a try would be something.
Of course, he would be forgiven since cannabis is being legalized across the United States and doesn’t cost athletes money the way it used to.
It appears the Miami Heat might not be the only organization with a high Smith soon enough.
