Jackie Taylor, the daughter of former NFL star Sean Taylor, had a message for Washington Commanders fans following a massive announcement from the NFC East side this weekend.
The Commanders have announced plans to build a statue honoring their former safety – a real one this time – and have taken down the sculpture installed in 2022.
“After careful consideration, we have decided as an organization to remove the Sean Taylor installation from Commanders Field,” a spokesperson for the team said in a statement, per ESPN. “We realize that the installation fell short in honoring one of our franchise’s most iconic players.
“Together with the Taylor family, we are working on a plan, which includes unveiling a statue that will rightfully celebrate the legacy and impact that Sean had on our organization, fanbase and community. The Washington Commanders are committed to honoring our legends in a first-class manner.”
Jackie, who was only 18 months old when her father was murdered in 2007, will help design the new statue. She had something to say to fans after the announcement dropped.

Sean Taylor’s Daughter Claimed She Was Fine With The Previous Sculpture
Sean Taylor’s No. 21 was retired in 2022, with Washington also installing a sculpture to honor him. Fans did not think it did the late star justice, but Jackie said it was appreciated nontheless.
“Any opportunity we get to honor my dad, we’re going to take it positively,” she said of the previous installation.
The Commanders have not set a date for the statue’s unveiling, but a team source has disclosed that they will meet with the sculptor soon.
The team also plans to honor all its legends in years to come, especially when it moves to its new stadium. The plan is to open the doors of a new structure by 2030.
