Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark will forever be tied to each other due to their rivalry, which started in college when they both played for the LSU Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Two superstars first hit the airwaves in a massive way during the playing of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
The rivalry began to build as we approached the Tigers’ game against the Hawkeyes in the NCAA Tournament National Championship game, which saw Reese and the LSU Tigers take down Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The following year, Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark would do battle one last time in the tournament, but this time, it would come in the Elite Eight.
Before that game, Reese described Clark as a “killer.”
“She’s just a killer,” Reese said, via Iowa insider Blake Hornstein. “… She’s just a really smart player. She has a great mentality to get everyone involved, but also takes great shots and makes great shots.”
Unlike the first matchup, Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes would exact their revenge with a 94-87 in that Elite Eight matchup. Clark had 41 points – including going 9-of-20 from three-point range – to go with 12 assists and seven rebounds, per ESPN.com.
Also in that game, Reese finished her college career with a 10th consecutive double-double in the NCAA tournament, tying the tournament record, with 17 points and 20 rebounds before fouling.
