Tij is the son of Flames’ legend and Team Canada hero Jerome Iginla, who had a stellar career in the NHL and was a key member of Canada’s 2002 Winter Olympics team. Jerome was also a 1st round pick back in 1995 for the Dallas Stars, but never actually suited up for them, instead traded to the Flames rather quickly.

He went on to carry the Flames for over a decade and finished his career with 1300 points in 1554 games.

On this day in 2019, Jarome Iginla’s #12 was officially retired and hung in the rafters at the ‘Dome!

In 1219 games with the #Flames, Iggy posted 525 goals, 570 assists, and 1095 points 🔥

Jerome is hoping his son Tij will be able to re-create the success he had at the NHL and international level. Tij has some big footsteps to follow in, but no doubt with his father’s guidance, he will surely be a breakout star.
