Following a distinguished NBA career, Charles Barkley became widely known for his insights as a co-host on TNT’s hit show “Inside the NBA.” In June, Barkley announced his plan to retire from television broadcasting after the 2024-2025 NBA season. However, it seems the 61-year-old has taken a U-turn on his retirement decision.
Despite his upcoming retirement, Barkley confirmed he will remain to have a key presence at TNT to fulfill his 10-year, $210 million contract. In a recent statement, Barkley expressed his gratitude and dedication to his TNT team.
“I love my TNT Sports family. My #1 priority has been and always will be our people and keeping everyone together for as long as possible. We have the most amazing people, and they are the best at what they do,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with them both on the shows we currently have and new ones we develop together in the future. This is the only place for me,” he added.
The future of ‘Inside the NBA’ remains uncertain, especially as TNT’s bid for NBA broadcasting rights was recently declined. Moreover, the NBA has already signed a new agreement with Amazon, leaving the show’s future in question.
How Many Years Has Charles Barkley Been With TNT?
Charles Barkley retired from the NBA on April 19, 2000, and soon after began his tenure at TNT. Since joining the network, the NBA legend has been a prominent figure on the renowned “Inside the NBA” show.
Barkley has been with TNT for more than two decades, during which he has won five Sports Emmys in the “Outstanding Studio Analyst” category for his contributions. In 2022, he extended his contract with TNT Sports for another ten years.
Recently, Barkley expressed his frustration with the NBA’s decision to choose Amazon over TNT, citing dissatisfaction with the network’s inability to compete with Amazon’s offer. It will be interesting to see how long Barkley can continue his career with the TNT.
