Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors have had a sour relationship for quite some time now. What seemed to be a rift, in the beginning, has evolved into a situation where getting back together seems unlikely. So the wingman turned into an unrestricted free agent. Following his decision, NBA Insider Chris Haynes named the franchise which has the highest possibility of landing the sharpshooter.

Discussing the 4-time champion on NBA TV, Haynes stated, “If there is a frontrunner, I’m going to say it’s the Dallas Mavericks… the Dallas Mavericks offensive schemes it needs a little bit of a tinkering and so when you add Klay Thompson a guy who moves around you know their offense is pretty stacked.”

However, as per reports, Lakers star LeBron James wanted the franchise to sign a big name and Klay appeared to be the one. So the 39-year-old took matters into his own hands and contacted the Warriors big man. LeBron also took a pay cut and stayed back so that the Lakers could afford Klay, but things might not be going according to the 20-time All-Star’s plan.

Klay was undoubtedly an integral part of the Warriors. His remarkable shooting skills and pairing with Curry seemed to have worked for the team, but in the last years, he kept struggling with his shots. This was especially noticeable in this year’s post-season tournament. Still, the franchise tried to retain the veteran, but their action made Klay feel disrespected.

Klay Thompson Felt Disrespected By Warriors

Following the disappointing season, many had anticipated that the Warriors would lose a part of their Big 3. The little hope that they had to get Klay Thompson back on board was lost because of their lesser offering which insulted the 34-year-old.

Stating the reason for Klay feeling disrespected, Chris Haynes said, “I believe the Warriors are probably offering him an annually, low $20 million-type of contract. Is he willing to walk away from that because he feels disrespected? It looks like he is.”

Even after a sloppy start to the previous season, Klay managed to put up 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per regular game. This clearly shows that the former 3-point champion still has a lot to contribute to the league only after sharpening his shooting skills in the offseason.
