After news broke of the player’s return to the San Jose Sharks a source shared that former Rangers forward Barclay Goodrow feels betrayed by GM Chris Drury.

Barclay Goodrow started his NHL career with the San Jose Sharks, quickly becoming a forward with a name on the team. When he heard he was being traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning, he shared a message of heartfelt gratitude towards the staff and fans who helped him algon the way.

“First off, I’d like to thank the San Jose Sharks for giving me a chance to live out my dream. I signed my first contract 6 years ago and what a journey it’s been. Thak you to the medical, training, equipment and PR staff for always being first class and helping me out. Thank you to the fans of San Jose for always being there, you and the city will always hold a special place in my heart. And to the boys, thank you for all the memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. I loved going to war with you guys.:

However, after a more brief stint with the Tampa Bay Lightning and subsequently the New York Rangers, Goodrow will head back to San Jose once again. The Sharks claimed the veteran forward off waivers to make him their third-highest-paid forward on the team.

“The #SJSharks have claimed Barclay Goodrow off waivers from #NYR, bringing the veteran forward back to the place he started his NHL career.”

Yet, with what most people would expect to be a joyous reunion for Goodrow based on his 2020 comments, is instead a bitter return. According to a source named Larry Brooks, the veteran forward felt betrayed by the move. The San Jose Sharks were on the player’s no-trade list, meaning Rangers general manager Chris Drury found the one way to get around this by placing him on waivers.

“‘There is widespread belief that Barclay Goodrow had #SJSharks on his 15-team no-trade list that #NYR GM Chris Drury got around by placing him on waivers, where San Jose claimed him.

We’ve been told by several folks Goodrow is not happy about how this went down.’ | @NYP_Brooksie”

It remains unknown if Rangers GM Chris Drury did this with the explicit intention of sending him back to his first NHL team. Regardless, Barclay Goodrow can expect to be welcomed back to the San Jose Sharks with open arms, whether he wants to be there or not.
