Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice revealed his biggest wish remaining after he won the Stanley Cup tonight.
It didn’t come easy. Winning the Stanley Cup never does. But at one point, the Panthers were massive favorites to win it all after they went up 3-0 on the Oilers. However, McDavid and the Oilers battled back, forcing a game seven in Florida. It was a highly contested match, with the Panthers eventually holding on to a 2-1 lead. After the game, Maurice told reporters that he would love to see the Winnipeg Jets win next year’s Cup.
«If I could see one more thing it’d be to see the Winnipeg Jets win the Stanley Cup.»
Paul Maurice is just awesome.
«If I could have one thing more it would be for the Winnipeg Jets to win the next Stanley Cup.»
Maurice has been a head coach in the NHL for nearly 30 years. He spent nine years behind the bench for the Jets, where he tried desperately to win a Cup. Unfortunately, his best run with the team came in 2018, when they lost in the Western Conference finals. Over the course of his career, he has become one of the most well-respected coaches in the league, which is evident based on the comments he is receiving on social media tonight.
The amount of respect I have for Paul Maurice is off the charts, I’d expect nothing less from him. Congrats Paul, enjoy this! ✈️
Maurice has one year left on his contract with the Florida Panthers. It will be interesting to see if he choses to retire at that point, having done everything there is do do in the National Hockey League. If he does, what a career it has been. Congratulations to Maurice and all the Florida Panthers.
