In honor of Pride Month and football, the Buffalo Bills have started a gay league.
The Bills are bringing a bit of a twist to professional football by sponsoring the National Gay Flag Football League team in Buffalo.
The NGFFL may be new to you, but it is not a new league. The league has over 250 teams in 26 leagues with over 4,000 players across the United States and Canada. Its idea is to promote more inclusivity so that more people can enjoy the sport of football.
Aside from the Buffalo Bills, other NFL teams with relations with the NGFFL include the Washington Commanders, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, New York Giants, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, and Arizona Cardinals.
The Los Angeles Rams also helped start a local LGBTQ flag football league, according to Outsports.
“We are excited to join the NFL and other Clubs across the league in their support of the NGFFL,” said Buffalo Bills Vice President of Community Impact, Michelle Roberts. “Through our sponsorship, we are looking forward to expanding the impact of the NGFFL in our community.”
Fans online had various reactions to this news:
The NGFFL was founded in 2002 and continues to grow rapidly as more National Football League teams decide to join.
The Buffalo Bills have Uphill Battle When It Comes To The Direction of The Franchise
The Buffalo Bills are in the midst of one of the greatest stretches in franchise history, aside from when they went to four-straight Super Bowls. The team has qualified for the postseason in six of the last seven years.
Having Stefon Diggs on the team is a huge reason things turned around, but now he is gone after being traded to the Houston Texans this offseason.
The Buffalo Bills’ Super Bowl odds certainly dropped across many sportsbooks, as BetMGM currently has them at +1400 when they were initially at +1200.
