Throughout the offseason, speculation has swirled about the New Orleans Pelicans considering a trade involving star forward Brandon Ingram. Although no agreements have been finalized, both the Pelicans and Ingram’s representatives seem proactive in exploring trade options.
Among potential suitors, the Cleveland Cavaliers emerge as a promising destination for Ingram. The Cavaliers aim to bolster their roster for a stronger push in the Eastern Conference, especially after securing Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley with long-term contracts. Acquiring a player of Ingram’s caliber could significantly elevate their lineup.
A potential trade scenario could see the New Orleans Pelicans receiving Jarrett Allen, Georges Niang, Dean Wade, along with second-round picks for 2025, 2027, and 2029 from the Cleveland Cavaliers, who would receive Brandon Ingram in return. This deal would satisfy the Pelicans’ long-standing interest in Allen as a key component for their center position. Allen’s impressive performance last season, with averages of 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, makes him a valuable asset for New Orleans.
Ingram, on the other hand, would provide the Cavaliers with additional star power, complementing Mitchell effectively. His last season stats showed solid contributions across the board, and his ability to alleviate some of the scoring pressure from Mitchell could be crucial for Cleveland.
The inclusion of role players like Niang and Wade, plus several future draft picks, would also benefit the Pelicans, offering them depth and future prospects without costing Cleveland a first-round pick—a potentially appealing aspect of the deal.
As trade discussions continue, it remains to be seen whether Ingram will stay with the Pelicans, who might alternatively extend his contract if a suitable trade isn’t found. Nonetheless, as rumors persist, the prospect of Ingram moving to a team like the Cavaliers appears increasingly plausible.
