Matthew Tkachuk is currently under fire as he got caught delivering cheap uppercuts to Connor McDavid in the fourth game of the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Edmonton Oilers finally woke up last night and were the better team on the ice. They scored eight goals, forcing Paul Maurice to replace Sergei Bobrovsky with Anthony Stolarz in the second period:

“Bobrovsky gets the boot after giving up 5 goals on 17 shots 😬”

“Oilers’ Adam Henrique scores his first Stanley Cup Final goal in 4,387 days”

“WE HAVE A RYAN NUGENT-HOPKINS STANLEY CUP FINAL GOAL 💙🧡”

The Panthers showed a lot of frustration on the ice, which was highlighted when Matthew Tkachuk’s antics led him to a massive altercation with Connor McDavid.

After the whistle, Tkachuk grabbed McDavid and landed three uppercuts on the Oilers’ captain before referees were able to intervene.

Check out how it went down in the video below:

“This is why nobody respects this clown!

Tkachuk received a minor penalty for roughing on the play, and the Oilers capitalized on the power play:

With that crucial win, the Oilers bought themselves another game, set to go down next Tuesday in Florida.

They hope to build on that momentum to win the next game. If they can manage to return to Edmonton for a sixth game, anything seems possible.

Do you think Matthew Tkachuk went too far with his cheap uppercuts to Connor McDavid?
