If any two quarterbacks in the current NFL have earned elite status, it’s Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes. But this often leads to an obvious comparison between the two, especially since they are two of the only three active quarterbacks with multiple MVP honors.

In a recent appearance on Herd with Colin Cowherd‘s podcast, two-time Super Bowl champion Marquez Valdes-Scantling laid down a comparison chart between both the players. Drafted by the Green Bay Packers, the wide receiver played with Rodgers for four years before joining the reigning Super Bowl champions and played with Mahomes for two years.

As the receiver has played for both the quarterbacks, his analysis and comparison between them holds value. He highlighted the similarities and differences between the playing style of Rodgers and Mahomes.

Pat’s a lot more vocal, rally the team. Aaron's more, right in your face, talk to you right in your face as opposed to the whole team, he goes to each individual. And Pat addresses the whole team, but they're both great at what they do, they lead in different ways.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling said

He asserted that the only similarity between both quarterbacks is their hyper-competitive behaviors. While the wideout couldn’t pick a favorite, he said he has learned a lot from both of them, which will help him in the next chapter of his career–the Buffalo Bills.

Shaun King criticizes Aaron Rodgers for prioritizing personal matters over Jets commitments

Contrary to Valdes-Scantling’s words for the New York Jets quarterback, former NFL quarterback Shaun King recently labeled Rodgers as “selfish and self-centric” during an appearance on the Go Long podcast. While Valdes-Scantling highlighted how Rodgers approaches each player of his team individually, King argued he puts himself first.

King was talking in reference to the quarterback missing the team’s mandatory minicamp over something personal. Although he had told them about his absence beforehand to the Jets, the Super Bowl champion called it “inexcusable.”

He’s become one of the most selfish and self-centered quarterbacks of my generation.

King also argued that the former NFL MVP put his head coach Robert Saleh and the whole franchise in a difficult spot to cover for his absence in front of the media. As Rogers knew the dates would collide, King said the QB could have rescheduled his personal matters and prioritized the team.
